WHERE MEDICINE MEETS THE PASTURE
A functional medicine practitioner with strong west Texas ranching roots and a dedication to producing beef that is as healing as it is delicious--raised with the same evidence-based rigor applied to human health.
OUR STORY
After years of practicing both conventional and Metabolic & Nutritional Medicine and helping patients understand that food is the foundation of health, the question became unavoidable: where does the food itself come from, and how is it raised? The deeper that question was explored, the more urgent the answer became.
Conventional beef production, for all its efficiency, has drifted away from the nutritional potential that cattle are capable of. A diet of grain-finished corn shifts the fatty acid profile of beef in ways that mirror the inflammatory patterns seen daily in clinical practice.
Our ranch was founded on the simple principle that healthy cattle produce healthy beef and healthy beef produce a healthy diet for humans. For this reason we focus on:
-Pasture-first nutrition: Cattle graze on diverse, mineral-rich pastures (the diet they were designed to eat)
-Fatty acid management: Rotational grazing and forage selection are optimized to favor omega-3 accumulation.
-No chronic stress loads: Cortisol dysregulation harms animals and humans alike. Low stress handling is critical to healthy cattle and tender, nutritious beef.
-Mineral optimization: Soil testing, feed selection, and targeted supplementation are necessary to ensure micronutrient density.
A PRACTITIONER'S COMMENT
"My patients spend enormous effort trying to reduce inflammation through medications, supplements and dietary choices. I wanted to offer them a protein source where that work had already been done -- at the level of the soil, the pasture, and the animal."
Every ranching decision made here is informed by clinical training: how gut microbiome health in the rumen parallels human digestive health, how chronic stress physiology affects both species, and how the mineral density of forage cascades all the way into the cuts on your table. This is regenerative ranching through a functional medicine lens.
